Warm weather means pretty cotton frocks to Vivien Lee of Fresh Frippery so she just recently completed this yellow floral dress, inspired by the cute "milkmaid" style dresses. A lot of cotton prints are a bit thin and require some lining, and she has a special trick to save time by using her FA4 serger instead of cutting out the lining twice.

As a garment sewist, it seems like a thing we do. We plan, but make our outfits the night before we need them. Making garments for others, well that's different! lol!  We prep for months or weeks before - what pattern will I choose, will I draft a pattern, what fabric is in my stash, should I buy fabric, etc.? Then life sets in, and before you know it, it's time to go.

Carol decided to make a jumpsuit out of a very silky and drapey fabric. The fabric was very fussy and required French seams. Since the fabric was so delicate, she used her  Memory Craft 15000. And also used her Airthread 2000D to serge the bodice.

After it was all set and done she realized this fabric required extra care and French seams going forward.

This Moon Garden quilt block is made with the quilt as you go technique. Using your Janome sewing machine and cotton quilt batting as the foundation, as each block is pieced together, the batting is attached and quilting is added "as you go." The pattern itself is a fun play on the traditional log cabin style quilt block, with an on-point twist, inspired by the prints and colors in my Designer's Palette for Art Gallery Fabrics that are featured in this tutorial.
