I absolutely LOVE my Skyline S5. I purchased it after using it for a class at a local quilt show. I never thought much about Janome, but I also had never used one so really didn't have anything to judge it by. Well, I could not leave class without this machine! I have a very high tech embroidery machine which cost thousands more. But I honestly would say I love my Skyline S5 for everyday sewing so much better. I actually think I would get rid of the fancy machine before the S5. It is so solid, it feels rooted to my table. Stable, beautiful stitches, just lovely work. I can't say enough good things about it. My one complaint is that there is no warning feature for the bobbin running out. The quality of this machine is top notch and I would definitely consider other Janomes in the future.

I recently upgraded to an S5. I had the Janome 7050 for only a few months and even thoughI liked it, the dealer had an upgade option if it was purchased within a year. I saw the S5 demonstrated and upgraded on the spot. They offer 3 years worth of one-on-one classes on using the machine. I took my first one and was overwhelmed by all it could do. I am doing a lot of exploring, practicing and learning the ins and outs of this machine. I am very impressed with what I have learned so far and plan on more one-on-one time with the dealer instructors.

Love my Skyline! I have an older Janome (New Home) and the MC12000. I used the Skyline in a class at a sewing expo, and bought the machine. It is very quite, and stitches beautifully. If I had had this machine first, I might not have every purchased my MC12000, but I did want embroidery capability, since all the sewing features I use are included on this machine, Nice size throat space. This is my go to machine to take to retreats. Great LED lighting also. My only thing I am used to on my larger machine is the bobbin warning for low bobbin and the automatic presser foot lift after using the "scissors". Minor things for everything else this machine does.

I love my Skyline S5. I wanted an upgrade from my smaller sewing machine and got everything I wanted, larger throat, needle down/up, speed control, feed dogs down, auto thread counter. It also 'feels' familiar, no high-tech gadgetry to learn, so I got up to speed on my new machine quickly. I am just getting used to free motion quilting (FMQ) and I found the machine excellent in getting me comfortable with that. One thing, I bought the extra bobbin case with the blue dot and it seems to really help with tension issues when FMQ.

I love sewing on my Janome Skyline S5. I sew as a hobby. I have so many projects to complete, I feel that I need 2 or 3 Skyline S5 machines. It slow me down having to change out my thread and bobbin thread.

I really enjoy my Skyline S5. I do wish it had a low bobbin sensor. All the other features are great though. I love the thread cutter. None of my other machines have that. I also like 9mm stitch width. It's quieter than my other machines as well.

I purchased my S5 about 3 years. I love it! It was an upgrade from a smaller machine. It can do so many fun things! I love the bobbin cutter and the memory. I love the 9 mm size! I have made many beautiful quilts and lots of pajamas and skirts for my daughter! I love it! I wouldn’t trade it for any other machine!

I love my S5! I started out quilting with this machine. It can do everything from general piecing, foundation piecing and appliqué to free motion quilting. I've recently started making tote bags and purses and this machine can handle it all, even stiching through multiple layers when assembling bags! I sew every day and my S5 doesn't miss a beat. It is a joy to sew with this machine. The variety of stitches and specialty feet allow me to try new techniques with ease. Can't imagine sewing with anything else. Especially like the 9mm stitch width. The machine is easy to clean and maintain. Only wish list items would be more lighting at the needle area and a low bobbin warning. These are just "nice to haves" since extra lighting is easy to add and the see through bobbin cover does make it easy to check if I'd just stop sewing long enough to look! Highly recommend this machine. It was easy to learn to operate and default tension settings work on nearly everything I sew. Rarely have to fuss with tension adjustments at all.

The S5 is a sewing machine that lets me sew garments effortlessly! I couldn't ask for more. I've had my S5 for about 18 months and I can say it has changed my sewing. I sew more now and can handle any kind of fabric. I'm so glad I tried a Janome machine!

I had a MC 6600 that needed repair. While waiting for it at the dealer I tried a Skyline S5. I instanly liked the smooth stitching and the fact that it was not as big and heavy as my other machine but had many of the functions I was used to. I traded my old machine for the Skyline and started sewing with it as soon as I got home. Two days later I took it to a class and I felt so comfortable with it as if I had it for a long time. I am very happy with this machine!

The more I use this sewing machine it keeps on getting better. The only complaint I have is the way it winds a bobbin. The "s5" isn't going to change so I have to adjust. It's a great machine that's easy to use, very good stitch quality and would buy it again.

I have owned for over a year, it has behaved wonderfully. I believe the price is good considering all the options. The self threader is accurate most of the time. The buttonhole is almost trouble free (stretch in fabric may require special needle). I am very happy with my choice of the Skyline S5.

I bought this machine after picking up the art of sewing again after many many many years. It was easy to learn, and a very solid machine. I’m a beginner quilter and it’s been great for piecing and learning to free motion quilt with it too. LOVE it.

I thought I could sew when I had an $80 machine I bought online. I was wrong, my new Janome has opened my eyes to the possibilities. I'm still learning the features but have really happy with the results of my projects. I did a very complicated quilt as a gift and I cannot imagine doing that kind of work on my old machine. The S5 makes me look like a pro.

This is a great, hardworking machine. I upgraded 2 years ago to get some of the new feature like thread cutter and knee lift. With those I got many beautiful embroidery stitches and ease of operation. This is a power house that I have enjoyed using and on which I have made many quilts and other items.

This is my first Janome machine and I love it. It sews like a dream. Along with being very quiet it is a work horse.. I've only had it 3 weeks and have already sewn three quilt tops together. I have always been a Viking person but this machine surely has changed my mind. It is very easy to use right out of the box. I've even mastered the knee lift. Great product and great purchase. I also have a wonderful dealer and it was great to do business with them. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

I love my sewing machine. it's so easy to use and quiet, I bought it from a shop 45 minutes away that offers life time classes so if I need help with anything I can go to them. My favorite thing is the walking foot.

I got my S5 a few months ago and so far have done some piecing, quilting, and have made a few simple bags. It has been great! My favorite features are the thread cutter and the knee lift. The machine was a little pricier than I would have preferred, but I haven't had a single stitch mishap. So far it definitely feels worth the price!

I love my Janome Skyline5. I bought it 18 months ago specifically because of the hand-quilted look sewing feature. It works like a charm. I was able to finish a quilt I'd started 30 years ago hand quilting and you can't tell the difference. I've used it for so many sewing and quilting projects since then. It is the best sewing machine I have ever owned.

I've owned my SkylineS5 for almost 2 years and I absolutely love it. I sew every day and this machine has made sewing/quilting fun. I did my research prior to buying and talked to several quilters who advised to seriously consider Janome. I've enjoyed using it from Day 1. I also purchased the Janome Quilting Kit and love the extra wide table and all the feet. Still practicing my free-motion quilting. The 9mm stitch width is great as well as all the stitch patterns. Would have liked the addition of a low bobbin warning but that's a minor detail. The S5 is the best and you will not be disappointed.

I am a relatively new to the world of quilting. I originally purchased a DC1050 but quickly realized that I needed a different machine. I purchased the Skyline S5 and absolutely love it!! It does everything I need a machine to do for me and allow me to increase my abilities as a quilter! I couldn't ask for a better machine. I haven't had any issues with the machine. My stitches are even and my seams are consistent. I feel very confident using this machine for my quilt tops!

This is my first Janome machine and I absolutely love it! I like all the needle positions. I make a lot of bags and I especially like the way it sews over thick seams with ease. I bought this machine 2-1/2 years ago as a birthday present for myself and have been sewing with it ever since. The only thing I can say I don't like is that the machine does not let me know when I am out of bobbin thread. I have bought several accessories and having a blast creating.

I cannot tell you how much I LOVE this machine. I bought another famous, name brand sewing machine and had to finally return it after numerous instances of problems. I remembered taking a class and the woman who was "expert" at her art said she loved her Janome. So, I purchased the S5 and have had no problems in the almost 2 years of using the S5. I have made several quilts, have done raw edge applique, and a couple of rag dolls. I look forward to more projects. The S5 dependability has been amazing.

Best upgrade I've ever made! I came from basic machines and I just love the S5. I recently retired and finally learned to quilt, something I've always wanted to learn. I call my S5 the "workhorse." I later bought a smaller janome for traveling as the S5 is too heavy for me to log around in a smallish motorhome. Love it!

I love my Skyline S5. It is a great machine. Love everything about it, however I have tried the embroidery alphabet but was disappointed to see how in the letters turn out. Too small to even bother with on this machine. Haven’t taken any classes, self taught. Mainly use for making quilts & a little disappointed when using the walking foot, can not use it for anything other than straight stitching. Wanted to use it for the serpentine stich but was told it is not meant for anything other than straight sewing when using the walk8ng foot. Once again, have all these great decorator stitches, but can’t use when quilting ...I can but fabric won’t feed good like it does when using the walking. Foot

I absolutely love my skyline 5! I work in a quilt shop and bought one skyline 5 and loved it so much that I bought a second so I could have one at each of my homes!! I also have encouraged several of my friends to buy the skyline 5 and they bought it and love love love it! One of my favorite things is it sews the 1/4” seam absolutely perfectly!!! And all the accessories are reasonably priced! I have another brand machine ..not Janome...and it sits in the closet..not being used!!!

I'm having so much fun using my S5! I've been sewing and quilting all of my life. This machine has all the best features and still has a reasonable price. I've noticed that my quarter-inch seams are much more accurate now which means projects go together faster and easier.

I bought two of my daughters a new Janome sewing machine for Christmas a few years ago. They expressed how much they liked them and I decided I should replace my old old old Janome with a new Skyline S5. My jaw dropped when I saw some of the features like the cutting feature and the extra high needle position for hemming blue jeans etc. I sure am pleased that my daughters pushed me in to buying my new machine!

I've had my Skyline 5 since June. I am really enjoying using it. I love that i can go from sewing a quilted table runner to sewing a faux leather handbag on the same machine! I still have a lot to learn with all the different features and i look forward to learning more!

When I retired six years ago, I needed a hobby, so my girlfriend taught me to sew my first quilt top and I have been hooked ever since. Two years ago I purchased my Janome Skyline S5 and loved it. The machine was easy to use and did a great job for me until I discovered Machine Embroidery. That is my new passion, so this year I traded in my S5 for a Skyline S9.... now I have everything I need in one machine! I love it!

I just love my S5. I have the HMC 15000, which I prefer not to take to classes or travel (too heavy). My older smaller Janome died so when I went to replace it I was first very impressed with the Skyline Series, I loved the design of the machine, very strong , sturdy and very pretty. I choose the S5 because I believed it complimented the HMC 15000, they booth are 9MM. the feet are interchangeable. I have been so happy with my decision. The S5 sews like a dream.

I have had my Skyline 5 since November 2014. I love it. Have pieced several quilt tops on it. It is very quiet. I like using it for sewing around appliqués. It is a joy to work with. I have three other Janome machines I am currently using.

I bought my machine in July at Kansas City Sewing Machine Center and I LOVE IT! My old Janome was 15 years old and it was time for an upgrade. Now I am making lots of quilts since retiring and I sew nearly every day!

I love this machine. It’s a real workhorse. I’ve seen a ton of stuff on it & it just keeps going and going. I did upgrade to have a larger harp, but I kept my Skyline 5 as a backup & to take to classes. It’s made with the same quality that Janome is known for. Love the 9mm stitches!

I love my S5 Janome. Perfect 1/4 seams all the time. Love the thread cutter feature. My favorite feature is I can sew using my finger and not have to use my foot to sew. I have problems with my back sometimes and being able to sew using my finger allows me to sit straighter. Haven't been sorry that I bought the S5 for even one moment!

Love my Skyline S5. I have had it for 3 years. Unfortunately I dropped my even feed foot and it feel apart. I can't find a replacement anywhere, can't find a part number. This site is no help.

My first machine since 1984.. it sews like a dream, not one issue, easy to operate. I will recommend this quality machine for anyone.! My daughter learned to sew on this machine, so we bought her a Janome Also, just a smaller machine, for ease of transporting, and the smaller machine sews just as beautiful..!

I love my S5! The only negative comment I could make is that I am branching out into more uses other than just quilting. There are several accessories I would like to add. When I go to tia website and find that accessory the S5 is listed on the compatible machines but when I try to add it to my wishlist it tells me it is NOT compatible. I rarely have enough time in my day to search for products so when I do I hate to waste it by searching, finding, making sure it does what I want,!watching the tutorial and then be told NO when it says it’s compatible. Wasted time that I can never get back.
