Replacement for a 40 year old Kenmore machine that died while I was altering some clothing. I haven't tried the 1 step button hole or most of the stitches yet, but the needle threader and drop feet are a bonus! The machine is very quiet and fairly fast. One slight issue I have is with the description of the product on the website. It is very misleading that in the specs it states that there is no free arm, when there absolutely is. That should be corrected because it almost caused me to pass this machine up. Thankfully the manager at Joann's opened the box and checked it before I purchased it.

The 1522DG fits all the requirements for a basic mechanical machine I needed for general sewing, quilting and textile upcycling. I would give it five stars except the work light on it is horrible - the light doesn't light up the table at all and the way it is positioned on the machine casts a dark shadow over the stitch width markings on the sewing platform - so aggravating.

The light over the stitching Plate was always dim, not enough light for me, now it has gone out al together. I use lamps but cumbersome next to my sewing table. Otherwise I sing HIGH PRAISE for this traffic machine as fit my sewing needs and been very dependable. Thank you.
