Sarah Ann Smith
Color, line, texture, rhythm and movement, imagery and stories inspire me. All my childhood I wanted to be an artist. I want to share my passion to create textile art and design surface pattern, but also including many art media. My path to art has been circuitous and unusual: as a young child, I lived in Spain, Thailand and Argentina. Having been a professional vagabond for my first four decades, my art now celebrates the home-of-my-soul that I found in midcoast Maine.
Widely published including two books of my own, with appearances on Quilting Arts TV, on The Quilt Show, and a video workshop, I create textile art, design, and teach selected engagements in person and online. For more information visit me at SarahAnnSmith.com. I’d love to hear from you!

Carol Crocker-Ware
My name is Carol Crocker-Ware. I have always been a crafty DIY enthusiast but my love for sewing started 20 years ago and I have been sewing non-stop ever since. During my 12-year professional sewing journey, besides teaching countless sewing classes to all ages, my work has been printed in various Better Homes and Gardens publications in the home décor capacity. I’ve also had the honor of having several featured window displays at IKEA Illinois. I studied tailoring in 2006-2009 and worked exclusively clothing men for 4 years as an independent seamstress/tailor. My most loved and cherished tailoring project, amongst many, is my son’s custom Tux, shirt and tie I created for his Senior Prom in 2018. My son is my muse and my best customer! I’ve sewn for him since he arrived so, learning the art of tailoring was an easy decision for me.
Born and raised in Chicago, I am married 20 years and have a son, a bonus daughter and my 8-year-old grandson who call’s me “Grand Diva”. My sewing journey is about sharing and mentoring the awesome sewing community, some selfish sewing (as my wardrobe is 99% handmade) and my family!

In recent years, his most known works are beautiful floral fantasy ballgowns and immensely beaded menswear.
Duy’s drive for craftsmanship stems from the first time he competed in a costume contest and since then produced incredibly detailed work. But he is also very vocal about taking the smaller steps and how to make bigger costumes accessible to the average beginner.

Fran Gulick
HI! I’m Fran a librarian turned creative and modern quilter living in the South Puget Sound region. My introduction to sewing and quilting came at the hand of long-time traditional quilters. However, it wasn’t until I found the world of modern quilting on Instagram that I truly and irrevocably fell in love with quilting.
Before I could really think about what I was doing I started a brand new Instagram account and blog to document my quilty adventures, and thus Cotton and Joy was born. Previously having worked as a graphic and web designer, it wasn’t long before I got the itch and started designing my own quilt patterns and sharing them with fellow quilters.
You can find sewing related tutorials and patterns on her blog, Cotton and Joy, and she frequently shares in-progress shots of current projects on her Instagram account.
Fran is sewing on the Janome Horizon Memory Craft 9450!

Laurel Ryan
Laurel is a magic creator and maker in the PNW. She has been sewing since she was a wee little girl with her mother and later dropped out of college to pursue her love for art and sewing. She started on an ancient, loud White sewing machine and later upgraded to the beautifully quiet Janome Memory Craft.
In 2019 she combined her love of graphic design and quilting and started designing her own quilting and EPP patterns. She spends her time designing patterns and having long conversations on Instagram.
When not sewing she enjoys baking, hiking and spending her time in the garden with her almost 8-year-old and tiny dog, Francine.
Lauren Does Cosplay
Hello! I’m Lauren and I’m a cosplayer and content creator based out of Colorado, USA. I have always had a passion for fandom and all things in the fantasy genre so when I found the world of cosplay, I dove head first into this incredible community of makers. I started cosplaying around 2019 which is when I started my social channels and learning so many new skills to be able to make my favorite costumes from movies and tv. It wasn’t until 2020 that I got my first sewing machine and started the process of learning to sew my own garments. Learning to sew has endlessly opened up the possibilities of characters and I’ve been able to make cosplays I would have never previously thought possible. Now I make tutorials across my social platforms to hopefully help and inspire others to do the same!

Lillia Whittington
Lillia has been sewing since she was 4 years old under the watchful eye of her grandmothers who have been her lifelong mentors. Her sewing journey led her to pursue a BA in Fashion Design, where she purchased her first Janome, and into the industry as a Technical Designer for 3 years. A safe space for sewists of all levels to learn, explore, and expand their wardrobe through the art of sewing!
Lillia’s sewing blog is focused on educating sewists on the how and why of sewing. She draws from her teaching experience at Texas Woman’s University, where she is a TA in Fashion Design, to break down sewing skills in a way that is understandable for even the most novice sewist. Lillia also creates and designs digital patterns in sizes 0-26 and shares them for free on her Patreon page for her “Sewing Besties”. She draws inspiration for her patterns from sustainability and reusing materials like deadstock fabric, scraps, and unconventional items, along with her favorite places like the farm she grew up at and her own garden.
When Lillia isn’t teaching workshops, designing patterns, or sewing her own wardrobe, she can be found gardening, running, or spending time with her family. Especially her grandmothers who shared the passion of sewing with her at such a young age. Lillia’s lifelong motto has been “Aller anfang ist schwer” a German proverb meaning all beginnings are hard. Melanie Call
I’m married to my high school sweetheart and we have 3 amazing kids. I work as a clinical pharmacist – total math and chemistry nerd here. Life can be busy and crazy so sewing has become my relaxing and creative outlet and I LOVE it! I began sewing about 14 years ago when a group of girlfriends and I started trying all sorts of crafty projects while our husbands played video games. 🙂 We decided to try sewing and I fell in LOVE with sewing and quilting! I try to sew/quilt a bit every day as those minutes add up! I love sewing in the morning before the kids wake up – it is so peaceful and relaxing! It’s the perfect way to start my day! My kids call it “Mom’s fabric-ing time.”
I love creating all types of projects: quilts (mini to bed size), pillows, bags, table runners, clothing. If it is fabric – I will sew it with my Janome!

Michael Burson
Michael is a self-taught cosplayer and sewist who enjoys recreating costumes from movies and films as well as everyday wear in men’s and women’s clothing. He goes by The Wizard Tailor on social media because he has always been influenced by fantasy costuming across the decades and likes to incorporate that into his pieces. Along with his wife Hayley, who has a skilled eye in fabric and vintage style, the two of them spend most of their free time working on costumes from Marvel, Disney, Harry Potter, Pixar, and other franchises. Though both of Michael’s grandmothers sewed clothes for their families, they had long since retired by the time he became interested in costuming, but fortunately kept a sewing machine around that he taught himself to use and make basic pieces while in high school. Now, Michael looks to make the pieces he wished he saw more of in men’s fashion, and enjoys adding feminine and masculine styles together to create new garments.

Sarah Maxwell
Sarah Maxwell, owner of Designs by Sarah J, began her early experiments with fabric at a summer sewing class at age 13. Undeterred by the teacher’s recommendations, Sarah chose to start her sewing journey with a pattern for pleated, fitted pants. After that disastrous attempt, Sarah was convinced she hated sewing until she unearthed a treasured family quilt as she was packing for college.
The 1930s Dogwood Kit Quilt served as a bed cover throughout college and inspired Sarah to learn to quilt. Armed with a “Teach Yourself to Quilt” book, scissors and cardboard templates, Sarah cut out pieces and hand stitched a baby quilt to welcome her first daughter.
Fast forward to today, and Sarah is now an Andover Fabrics designer, a prolific pattern designer and author. With more than 200 original designs published over the last 20 years, Sarah’s quilts have been juried into QuiltCon and various AQS and IAQ shows.
Inspired by the color combinations seen in nature, Sarah’s passion is design that melds tradition with a contemporary feel. With a family farm in Missouri and daughters living on opposite coasts, she finds inspiration and design ideas across the United States.

Stephanie Burwell
Hi There! My name is Stephanie Burwell, and like you, I am a lover of all things DIY with a passion for fashion and sewing. As a little girl I was fascinated with the endless possibilities of being able to make things with your hands, which inevitably lead to dreams of making my own clothes.
I have a degree in Fashion Merchandising and certificate in French Couture Dressmaking, of which contribute to the fabrics and patterns I choose to combine when considering a make. My merchandising eye naturally evaluates what fabrics work well together ( considering print, texture, and color) , while my couture dressmaking eye seeks to discover unique and interesting pattern designs that are always far from boring. This world of sewing is something I hope everyone will discover, and my goal is to inspire and teach others how they can get started.
Thank you for taking the time to read a little about me. I am always open to connecting and can’t wait to get sewing with you here and on social @sewwithstephanie
