Add depth and interest to your Memory Card embroidery by experimenting with twin needle stitching. Two shades of the same color adds a beautiful dimension. Varying colors, as in our flower garland hand towel, gives your design a more vibrant tone.
Materials needed: • Memory Craft 9000, 5700, 5000 or 8000
• Assorted Memory Cards
• Janome embroidery thread - assorted colors
• Janome bobbin thread
• Stabilizer for Professional-Style embroidery
• Janome Twin Needle (Memory Craft 9000- left needle position part #801401002, Memory Craft 8000-center needle position part #820828008)
NOTE: The needle position for Professional-Style Embroidery is different when using Memory Cards developed for the Memory Craft 9000, 5700 and 5000 than it is for the Memory Craft 8000.
Memory Cards developed for the 8000 are numbered below 99 and use a center needle position twin needle.
Memory Cards developed for the 9000, 5700 or 5000 are numbered 100 and above. The left needle position must be used with the twin needle.
Instructions:
Set-up the Memory Craft for Professional-Style Embroidery.
1. Insert Memory Card.
2. Select design.
3. Insert the appropriate Twin Needle for the Memory Card selected (see above).
4. Insert the auxiliary spool pin.
5. Place red felt pad on auxiliary spool pin.
6. Place two spools of Janome embroidery thread on top and bobbin thread in the bobbin.
7. Thread as for a single needle, separating threads at the needle bar thread guide. Refer to page 60 of the Memory Craft 9000 Instruction Book for more information on threading.
The entire embroidery design does not have to be sewn using a twin needle. Once the Memory Craft has stopped for a thread color change, you may change to a single needle or even a wider twin needle.
Memory Card #3, design #12 makes a great pansy. Sew the leaves with a single thread (green) then change to a twin needle using purple and yellow for the petals.
Memory Card #119 has some great possibilities using twin needles.
Memory Card #12, designs #2, #3 and #4 when sewn with a twin needle and orange and yellow thread looks like a sunflower.
Memory Card #118, designs #1, #2, #3, #44 are just a few that have beautiful results when sewn with a twin needle.
