Transferring Several Designs to the MC11000 via Flash Media

You'll learn how to transfer several designs to the MC11000 via Flash Media.

What you'll learn
You'll learn how to transfer several designs to the MC11000 via Flash Media.

If you cannot or choose not to connect your MC11000 to your computer with a USB cable, you can transfer several designs that are on any storage media in your computer to a folder on a compact flash card (ATA card) or USB Memory Key in your computer. The device you write to becomes a transportation device to carry your designs to the MC11000.

The plan for this lesson is to send all the designs from the Flowers folder and three designs from the Border and Corner folder to the MC11000 using a compact flash card (ATA card) or USB Memory Key.

The Flowers and Border and Corner folders were placed on your C: drive when Customizer 11000 was installed on your computer.

1. Click FlashMemory, Write Designs, Read and Erase...

OR

Click the down arrow to the right of the Send a Design icon. Click Designs.

Either way will bring up the Write Designs, Read and Erase (Off-line) dialog box.

The Write Designs, Read and Erase dialog box is divided into three sections.

1. The left side of the box shows folders and designs on your PC.
2. The right side of the box shows folders and designs on a compact flash (ATA card) or a USB Memory Key in your computer.
3. The middle part of the box has three buttons for the action you want to do to communicate between the PC and the embroidery machine.

To write designs to flash memory

  1. Choose the flash memory you want to use.
  2. Point to the folder in the compact flash (ATA card) or USB Memory Key that is in your computer.
  3. Select the designs that are on the PC that you want to transfer to the embroidery machine.
  4. Click the Write action button.

Step 1. Choose the flash memory device.
In the Write Designs, Read and Erase (Off-line) dialog box, the lowest-lettered computer drive that has flash memory is the default area for sending designs. In the example below, compact flash (ATA card) is the E: drive, and the USB Memory Key is the G: drive. The dialog box defaults to the compact flash (ATA card) because it is a lower letter.

Step 2. Point to the folder where you want the designs to be sent.

To send the designs to the Embf folder on the compact flash (ATA card), double click on the folder. This will open the folder and it will also activate the Write button in the middle of the screen.

Step 3. Tell Customizer 11000 where the designs are stored.
We'll first get the designs from the Flowers folder. To select them, we must change the location in the PC: box on the left side of the dialog box.
Image

Click the down arrow in the PC box to get a map of your computer. Click drive C:, then double click succeeding folders.

This is the path to get to the designs:

C: on your computer's C: drive (or hard drive), is the
1. Program Files folder Open this, and find a folder called:
2. Janome Open this, and find a folder called:
3. Customizer 11000 Open this, and find a folder called:
4. Sample Designs Open this, and find a folder called:
5. Designs Open this, and find a folder called:
6. Flowers These are the designs we want.

Once the Flowers folder is showing on the PC side of the screen, double click it to see the designs in the folder.

There are 13 designs in the folder. To select all of them, we can either

click a check mark in the lower right corner of each design box,

OR

right click on any design to bring up the submenu, then click Check all to select all of them.

If you use the submenu, you will get a confirmation box telling you that you are choosing all the designs in the folder. If this is acceptable, click OK to proceed with the selection.

Once the designs are all selected, we need to turn our attention to the right side of the dialog box to tell Customizer 11000 where to write the designs.

Step 4. Click the Write button.
Click the Write button to transfer all of the designs in the Flowers folder to the Embf folder on the compact flash (ATA card).

The Write button will deactivate once the designs are transferred.

We now want to send three designs from the Children's Designs folder.

To send Three Designs from the Children's Designs Folder:

Step 1. Select the flash device.
We do not have to repeat step 1 because compact flash (ATA card) is currently selected.

Step 2. Point to the folder where you want the designs sent.
Since we already have the Embf folder in the compact flash (ATA card) open, we don't have to take further action.

Step 3. Select the designs you want to send.
To point to the Border and Corner folder, we need to go back up the pathway. Rather than getting a map of the C: drive again, which we could get by clicking the down arrow in the PC box, we can click the Up icon to point back to the folders in the 1.Designs folder.

Double-click on Border and Corner to open it.

Click to select the first three designs, Border 1, Border 2, and Border 3. Each click will set a check-mark on the design.

The Write button will activate again.

Step 4. Click the Write button.
Click the Write button to transfer the designs.

A note about flash memory:
All parts of this lesson apply to USB Memory Key as well as a compact flash card (ATA card).

  • If you only use USB Memory Key, it will be the only selection you have under Flash Memory.
  • If you only use compact flash card (ATA card), it will be the only selection you have under Flash Memory.
  • If you use both compact flash card (ATA card) and USB Memory Key, you must choose which device to receive the designs under Step 1.
