Send a Design to an ATA PC Card

There are two separate methods of sending a design to an ATA PC Card.

Method 1 - Using a Cable, ATA PC Card in Memory Craft 10000

Method one involves using the Send Designs dialog box, a USB or RS232-C cable, and sending the design over the cable to the ATA PC Card which is in the Memory Craft 10000. The design must be on the Customizer 10000 design screen. The Memory Craft 10000 must be in PC Link mode. The USB or RS232C cable must connect the Memory Craft 10000 and the computer.

There are two ways to get to the Send Designs dialog box to send the design.

Click on the Memory Craft menu on the Standard Toolbar. Click on the first menu entry in the drop-down menu, Send a Design...

You can also click on the Send Design icon.

Either way will bring up the Send Designs dialog box. Click on the ATA PC Card radio button to ensure the design will be written to the ATA PC Card, and not to the built-in memory.

If you have saved your design prior to sending it to the Memory Craft 10000, your design will be sent to the sewing machine by the name you gave it when you saved it. If you have not saved your design, the design will be sent by the name of the bitmap or clipart that was used to create your design.

However, you can change the name of the design by clicking on the Name button. The Jef name dialog box will appear, where you can type in a new name for the design. Click OK to use the new name, or click Cancel to use the default name

If you are connected to the Memory Craft 10000 via USB cable, your Send Designs box will note that the USB is Connected. If you are connected using an RS232-C cable, the note on top will say USB Disconnected.

Click Start to transmit the design to the ATA PC card in the Memory Craft 10000. You will see the transmission box sending the design on the computer screen and on the Memory Craft 10000 screen. When the transmission is completed, the design will be written to the ATA PC card.

A check box on the Send Designs dialog box allows you to decide how to open the file once it has been written to the ATA PC card. The check box turns on the "Select the Open/Save folder." If you leave the boxunchecked, the file will be written to the PC Link folder on the ATA PC card; to open the embroidery file, you must put the Memory Craft 10000 in PC Link mode and press the ATA PC card tab.

If you check the box, the file will be written to the Embroidery folder on the ATA PC card; to open the embroidery file, you must put the Memory Craft 10000 in Embroidery mode and press Open File Mode Key. Select Card. Your design will be listed by name.

Method 2 - Write to ATA PC Card in Computer

The second method of writing to an ATA PC card is for those people who cannot connect their computers to the Memory Craft 10000. They can write their design to the ATA PC card, then carry it to the sewing machine, insert it in the ATA PC card slot, and read the design.

Saving a design to an ATA PC Card is similar to saving a design to a floppy disk, but there are some differences you must be aware of

The ATA PC Card will be designated as a drive in your computer. Depending on the configuration of your computer, the drive designation will become "E" or "F," etc.

To access the Write a Design dialog screen, click on the Write One icon, which looks like an ATA PC card.

If you are using a laptop computer, you will need to "ask permission" to remove the ATA PC Card from your computer. This is done by clicking on the controller icon on the Windows toolbar. This will bring up the following box on the screen:

Double-click on the "Stop Standard IDE/ESDI Hard Disk Controller" box. It may take as much as a minute before you will see another box that gives you permission to remove the ATA PC Card.

Click on the "OK" button and remove the card.
