What you'll learn
You'll learn how to save designs to flash media to transfer to your sewing machine, and how to tell the MC11000 to read designs from Flash Media.
Even if your MC11000 is not connected to your computer with a USB cable, you can transfer designs from the sewing machine to your computer.
When you save a design to flash media that is on your sewing machine, you can transport the device to your computer. You can then read the design from the flash media device and save it to a folder on your computer. The computer folder that you receive to can be located on any storage media in your computer.
The plan for this lesson is to read two of the designs from the Flower Designs folder that we sent to the MC11000 in Lesson 5. We will read them and write them into the My Designs folder that was written on your hard drive when Customizer 11000 was installed.
1. Click FlashMemory, Write Designs, Read and Erase...
OR
Click the down arrow to the right of the Send a Design icon. Click Designs.
Either way will bring up the Write Designs, Read and Erase (Off-line) dialog box.
The Write Designs, Read and Erase dialog box is divided into three sections.
1. The left side of the box shows folders and designs on your PC.
2. The right side of the box shows folders and designs on a compact flash card (ATA card) or a USB Memory Key in your computer.
3. The middle part of the box has three buttons for the action you want to do to communicate between the PC and the embroidery machine.
The sequence to read from flash memory is:
- Choose the flash media device.
- Choose the folder on the media.
- Select the designs you want to receive
- Point to the folder on your computer where you want the designs to be written.
- Click the Read action button.
Step 1. Choose the flash media device where the designs are written.
Click on the device in the Flash Memory section to select it.
Step 2. Choose the folder in the memory.
In Step 2, we tell the Customizer where the designs are stored. The designs we sent to the flash memory are in folder Embf, so double click the folder to open it to see the designs.
Step 3. Select the designs you want to receive.
Click on the designs you want to receive. A check mark will be placed in the check box indicating these designs are selected.
Step 4. Point to the folder on your computer where you want the designs to be written.
To point to the folder into which we will read the designs, we go to the PC side of the dialog box, which is on the left. The folder we want to select is called My Designs. Its path is:
C:\Program Files\Janome\Customizer 11000\Sample Designs\My Designs
It is an empty folder that was placed on your C: drive when Customizer 11000 was installed. It is a convenient folder to store designs you create yourself.
Step 5. Click the Read action button.
The design will be read into the My Designs folder from the Embf folder on the flash media.
