Part 1 - Lettering
1. Click New to open a new design sheet.2. Click Lettering icon.3. Select a dont from one of the 52 built-in fonts. Click in the text box to activate it and type in your name. Change the font size to 15.00. Leave all the other settings at the default.4. Click OK.5. Click in the center of the hoop to create the lettering. Centre the design if necessary.6. Ensure that the lettering is selected.7. Click the Offset Object icon (Edit Toolbar).8. Enter 3.00mm as the Offset (This is the distance between repeats). Enter 4 as the Offset Count (This is the number of repeats around your design).9. Right Click on the outer run stitch to open Object Details. From the drop down Stitch Type menu select Satin Line and set the Width to 2.00mm. Click OK.10. Click Save icon. Locate your Digitizer Lessons folder. Save the file as "Outline Name". Click Save.
Part 2 - Echo Quilting Around Designs & Removing Overlaps
1. Click New to open a new design sheet.2. Click on the down arrow for Hoop Selection and Select the SQ (200 x 200).3. Click Image, then Insert Image4. Locate the following directory C:\EmbroideryAlbum\Butterfly.bmp. Click Open.5. Click Click-to-Design6. Deselect the design to see the stitches.7. Click on the Flyout Menu triangle of Click-to-Parallel Fills icon.8. Ensure that the image is selected.9. Click Click-to-Outline icon. Click on white area of the image. Press ESC to end the function.10. Click Resequence Icon if the Resequence Bar is not already open on the right side of the screen.11. Scroll down the Resequence Bar to the bottom until you can see the last 2 objects which are white. Select the last object and change the color to one of your choice.12. Click Offset Object icon. Enter 7.00mm as the Offset and 7 as the Offset Count. Click OK.13. Select the white outline from the Resequence Bar and Click Cut to hold the object in the Clipboard for use later.14. Ctrl + A to select all objects. Hold down the Shift key and resize the design so that it fits within tthe hoop.15. Click Save icon. Locate your Conference folder. Save the file as "Echo Butterfly". Click Save.16. Click the Undo icon twice to replace the white border stitch.17. Ensure the white border is selected. Right Click seelct Object Details. Click Dimensions Tab. Increase both the width and height to 150.00mm. Click Line Stitch and change to Satin Line, change the width to 4.00mm. Click OK.18. Select the Thread Reel and choose a color of your choice.19. Ensure that the satin border is selected. Click on the Bottom button and the border should now be the last object of the design.20. Click on Edit Menu from the drop down list and select Remove Overlaps. Watch the Status Bar down in the bottom left corner and you will see a progress bar calculating time remaining for this process.21. Now it is simply a case of selecting any of the lines outside of the border and deleting them from the design.22. Click Save icon. Locate your Digitizer Lessons folder. Save the file as "Framed Butterfly". Click save.
Part 3 - Adding New Run Stitch Types
1. Right Click on the run lines closest to the butterfly. Click Object Details. From the Stitch Type drop down menu select Backstitch Line. Leave the rest of the settings at their default. Click OK.2. Right Click on the 2nd run line. Click Object Details. From the Stitch Type drop down menu select Candlewicking Run Line. Leave the rest of the settings at their default. Click OK.3. Right Click on the 3rd run line. Click Object Details. From the Stitch Type drop down menu select Sculptured Run Line. Leave the rest of the settings at their default. Click OK. (Sculptured Run Line is the Hand-Look Quilting stitch and you will use the same threads and tension settings that you would use if using this stitch in sewing mode).4. Click on either of the top or bottom of the 4th line and hold Ctrl key to select the other 4th line. Right Click, than click Object Details. From the Stitch Type drop down menu select Stern Stitch Line. Leave the rest of the settings at their default. Click OK.5. Click Save icon. Locate your Digitizer Lessons folder. Save the file as "Decorative Butterfly". Click Save.
