This optional accessory makes gathering a breeze.
There are many sewing projects that call for gathers -- garments, home décor items, and accessories to name just a few.
The Gathering Foot makes it easy. Even though it has no moving parts, it works like a mini ruffler to create small gathers in your fabric as you stitch on your Janome sewing machine.
You can use it to gather a single layer of material or to gather a top piece of fabric as you sew it onto a bottom piece.
How To Use The Gathering Foot
- Begin by adjusting the tension for the needle thread to between 3 and 6.
- Set your stitch length. The longer the stitch, the more gathers you will have. Try gathering with a stitch length of 4, and then adjust up or down.
- Attach the Gathering Foot to your machine, making sure that the bar on the back is over the ledge on the ankle.
- Now begin stitching.
It's that easy. You've just created a row of gathers.
