This sewing, quilting and embroidery machine earned a reputation for sturdy performance.
The Memory Craft 9000 debuted in the early 1990s. Replacing the MC8000 as Janome's flagship model, the MC9000 had expanded embroidery capabilities, and more time-saving features. It enabled sewists to quickly transition from sewing to embroidery, making it a true 3-in-1 machine.
Designed by Janome to withstand years of sewing, there are many MC9000s going strong after nearly 20 years in service. And some of the stories that have gotten back to us are simply amazing.
One owner in the mid-west told how a tornado destroyed her house, burying her MC9000 in the debris. As they combed through the wreckage they found the machine without external damage but completely soaking wet. They dumped the water out of the case, let the machine dry and plugged it in. It ran but with a little extra vibration. So she took it in to her dealer, who gave it a thorough cleaning. After that it ran like new, including the embroidery functions.
MC9000 owners can still find information on their machine, including the owner's manual as a PDF, in the Retired machine section.
The success of the Memory Craft 9000 design inspired a line of sewing and embroidery machines that are still available today: MC9500 and MC9700.
