Remember the worry over Y2K? Fortunately, civilization did not cease to exist at the turn of the calendar to January 1, 2000. In fact, for the sewing community things were really looking up a few months later when Janome introduced the Memory Craft 10000.
Replacing the capable MC9000, the MC10000 marked a milestone in the processing power and stitch capabilities of a home embroidery machine. It had a color, active matrix Touch Screen. It had a computer processor that made it twice as fast as the 9000. It connected directly to your computer via a USB or serial port, and for the first time you could put standard ATA-PC cards right into a slot on the machine.
It was also the first Janome machine that could be upgraded via software.
Sewing and embroidery enthusiasts loved the larger selection of built-in decorative stitches and embroidery designs, and the expanded library of designs available for import.
The color touchscreen made onboard embroidery editing much easier. However, if you wanted to work with sophisticated digitizer or embroidery layout software, you could quickly import your designs to the MC10000.
For stitching out large designs, you had unheard of room in the new 9.1" x 7.9" Giga Hoop. But if you needed to embroider in a tight spot there was the new 2" x 2" Free Arm Hoop.
