New Video: Long Quilting Guide Bar Set for the MC12000
Don't waste time drawing straight lines on your quilt top!
The Long Quilting Guide Bar Set is an optional accessory that allows you to do even rows of decorative stitching with your Horizon Memory Craft 12000 or other Janome machine. You use it for techniques like window paning and channel stitching.
The set comes with two guide bars. One is for the left side of the presser foot and the other is for the right. And they fit any Janome sewing machine.
On The MC12000 you can use the guide bars with the AcuFeed Straight Stitch Foot, or with the regular ankle. In both cases you also insert the bar into the hole on the side of the ankle.
How To Use The Long Quilting Guide Bar Set On Your MC12000
- Before you attach the presser foot holder (or ankle) to your machine, insert the Quilting Guide Bar into the hole on the side.
- Attach the ankle to your machine and your presser foot.
- Adjust the desired distance between your rows of stitches by sliding the bar in or out.
- Choose a stitch and sew your first row.
- On your next row, align your fabric so the guide is directly over your first line of stitching.
- Continue to use the bar to guide your subsequent rows of stitching.
To see this demonstrated, watch the video Long Quilting Guide Bar Set: Creating rows of channel stitching.

New Video: Wide Pintucking Foot for the MC12000
Create wide pintucks on your Horizon Memory Craft 12000.
A little over a week ago, we featured the Narrow Pintucking Foot for the Horizon Memory Craft 12000. Go here to read it. (The article also has a link to the instructional video.)
What are pintucks? They're little decorative ridges (or tucks), usually sewn in narrow rows. The ridge is created when a narrow piece of cording is placed under your fabric and you stitch on either side of it with a twin needle. To sew them you need a pintucking foot working in conjunction with a pintucking cord guide.
The Wide Pintucking Foot uses the Wide Pintucking Cord Guide, which can feed cord from 1.5 to 2.5mm in diameter.
Creating Wide Pintucks On Your MC12000
- Begin by removing the clear bobbin case cover and installing the Wide Pintucking Cord Guide.
- Install a twin needle with the same width as the distance between the grooves in the Wide Pintucking Foot.
- Thread your machine with a second spool of thread.
- Attach the Wide Pintucking Foot to your machine.
- Raise the foot and pull your cord through the cord guide.
- On the touch screen of your machine go to Utility Stitches. Select a straight stitch. And choose Twin Needle.
- Position your fabric over the cord so that the twin needles come down on either side.
- Begin sewing your first row.
You've created a wide, corded pintuck.
To create multiple rows, position the previous pintuck in the groove on the bottom of the foot and stitch down your next row beside it.
To see this demonstrated, watch the video Pintucking Foot Wide N1: Making Wide Pintucks.

The Horizon Memory Craft 12000 Clothsetter Has Arrived!
This Janome exclusive is now available for your top-of-the-line embroidery machine.
Let's say you've created an amazing large-scale embroidery design on your computer. And you have a very precise embroidery machine to stitch it out. Now all you need is an extremely precise way to position the various parts of the design on your fabric.
This is the where the Clothsetter comes in. It's an embroidery positioning device you calibrate to your specific Memory Craft machine that allows you place your designs with perfect precision.
And now you can get the Clothsetter for the MC12000.
How The Clothsetter Works
Using your embroidery software, you print a color template of your design on semi-transparent paper. You then set the template on your fabric, moving it around until you have it in exactly the right position. With a fabric pen, you mark the position of the template on your fabric. Then you put your embroidery hoop in the Clothsetter, and using the crosshairs as your guide, position your fabric so your Memory Craft will stitch the design in exactly the right spot.
It really does take the guesswork out of embroidery placement.
Ask your local, authorized Janome dealer to show you how to use the Clothsetter for your MC12000.
