- Type the initial.
- Place a layer of tear away stabilizer in the Standard Hoop A. 7. Apply spray adhesive to fabric. Adhere to stabilizer in hoop.
- Place a layer of water soluble stabilizer on top of the fleece.
- Stitch letter.
Construction:
- Set up the Memory Craft for Ordinary sewing.
- Attach the Even Feed foot.
- Insert a Red Tip needle 90/14.
- Select Straight stitch #1. Adjust the length to 2.6.
- Place the fleece hat pieces right sides together.
- Sew along the curved edge, using 1/2" seam allowance.
- Repeat for the fur hat pieces.
- Trim and clip along curve, as needed.
- Fold the 8" x 24" strip of fake fur in half lengthwise with wrong sides together. Secure with pins.
- Pin the fur to the hat, right sides together. Be sure to match raw edges.
Hint: Be sure to check the direction of fur. This will go around the face.
- Layer the fleece hat and the fur hat (right sides together) with the fur strip sandwiched in between. Secure with pins.
- Adjust the stitch length to 3.5.
Hint: Due to the thickness of the layers, be sure to sew slowly.
- Sew around the seam edge, starting about 2" in from the edge.
- Finish seam from starting point toward raw edge.
- Turn hat right side out. Trim excess fur near raw edges if desired to eliminate bulk.
- Fold back the two ends of the fur trim about 1" beyond the seam and secure with pins.
Note: This will make the trim fold away from the face and fit more naturally.
- Mark the center on each 7" x 60" strip of fleece, lengthwise.
- Match the center of one strip with the center back of the fur side of the hat. Pin in place.
- Trim the embroidered monogram to 3 1/2" x 5".
- Fold back 1/2" hem on each side of the monogram. Stitch in place.
Note: The top and the bottom will be caught in the scarf seam.
- Place the embroidered section just to the right of the fur trim on the 7" x 60" strip. Pin in place.
- Pin the remaining 7" x 60" strip to the hat, right sides together. Be sure to match the center back of fleece (lining) hat.
Note: The hat should be sandwiched between the two strips. Leave an opening where the hat hangs out of the two strips. Angle the ends of the scarf if desired.
- Adjust the stitch length to 4.0.
- Stitch the scarf in place. Be sure to leave open the area where the hat hangs down.
- Turn right side out.
- Fold in the raw edges and pin in place.
- Topstitch all sides of the scarf and close the opening.
