So excited. I am getting a Janome MC4900QC (joint birthday and Christmas present). What I would like to know before I invest in additional expenditure is, does the Convertible Free Motion Quilting Foot Set and special bobbin case really make a difference? Using the standard accessories that came with it, I gave up on free motion work using my Janome 6125QC, it was just too difficult to get the stitches even. I would love to hear if anyone else with my stitch co-ordination problem has found this attachment an asset or not.

I have a 27 year old MC8000. Two days ago my LCD screen went completely out. I tried doing the reset and it didn't work. Anyone else have this problem? Everything I've research says the light is easy and inepensive to fix, but the board going out is expensive and a new machine would be the way to go. Any suggestions would be helpful. Been wanting a new machine but this one still sewed great until this happened. Thanks

Hi, I am new to this forum and I am hoping someone can help me. I have recently tried quilting on my friends 6600 sewing machine with the quilting foot and shuttle (not the convertible one the previous one) and I loved it. I was wanting to know if the convertible foot, either the high shank or the low shank , will fit on a Janome 1600. I currently own another make of machine, but enjoyed the quilting so much I am considering purchasing a Janome. Because I only want to quilt on the machine I dont really want all the bells and whistles of the 6600. Thanks in advance if anyone can help me!

Hi,
Did you decide on a machine? I too am trying to make a decision on what to buy. Unfortunately I do have a limited budget. My Singer bit the dust this past week. Can't complain about it too much though I paid rock bottom price for it and got what I paid for. It did bring me several years of happiness though. I was just learning to quilt when I purchased it and never thought I would want anything that did more that a staright stitch. However after about 5 years of quilting now I am wanting to venture out and try new things. I did try a Viking this past Friday and loved the comnputerized part. However it sounded and ran like a chainsaw. My friend has a Singer that just hums when it is sewing has a great feel to it. I have heard good things about Janome and can't wait to try one. My local quilt shop is sold out of them at this time, but is expecting a new shipment this week. She has recommeded the DC3050 which appears to be at then top of my price range. Have you heard anything about it. Also someone told me all the Vikings never have to be oiled. Is that true of the Janome's as well??
Chainpiecer

-------------------------
Chainpiecer

This was the last item in a too long thread so I brought it forward.

I've been working on a project and it would be great to have more flexibility in the width and length of my stitches. What increment changes in width and length does the 6600P offer for say the basic zig-zag? How about the blanket stitch, can you adjust the width of the horizontal stitch?
