bathroom decor

Bathroom is not considered just a utility these days. They are seen as the room or space
that sets the mood of the rest of your day in the morning, where you can spend some time
with just yourself and pamper yourself, free from the worries of the world. The master
bathroom or luxury bathrooms today include at least a toilet, bidet, two sinks, separate
tub and shower, whirlpool or spa and perhaps more. There are half bathrooms that only
have a sink and toilet while full bathrooms have bathtub and shower combo along with it.
Smaller bathrooms may just have shower area or corner shower stall instead of both tub
and shower. Children's bathroom may omit a thing or two but is more colorful and has
energetic feel.

bathroom accessories

Janome 10001 Embroider Curtains Question

Hello,
I am just getting started with my Janome 10001. I have been making drapes for all of the rooms in our home and am delighted with the machine. I have also made clothing but now I want to make embroidered curtains for the windows in the work area and the eating area of the kitchen. I would like to use a linen for the curtains. I have one of Janome's designs that is just perfect. The embroidery would mainly be on the border. What I liked about the embroidery image is that it is a leafy vine which doesn't make it look like straight rows of embroidery but doesn't go into the centre of the curtain where it would just be wasted.
It is a very flowing look. What is concerning me is hooping. I will be fairly close to the edges as it is a border. My husband got me all of the hoops sizes when he purchased the machine. I also have the two sizes of Clothsetters for calibrating. I just don't know how to set the fabric in the hoops. Would it make sense to add a temporary piece of fabric to the edges so that the edge would then be centred on the gigahoop. I just can't visualize how I would hoop fabric for the border. I don't know if this makes any sense to you. If not I will try again. Thankyou for your help. Dorothy

Could someone please advise me on how to join the ends of braided trim? I have a braided trim attached to a sew on seam allowance that I want to insert in the seams of a pillow I am making. The braid is heavy three strand. If I overlap the seam at the end, it is very bulky. Any hints on how to attach the ends of this type of trim? Thanks! Barb

Hi All,

New to this but think I might find the answers here. Here is my story...After being away from sewing for the last 25 years I decided I wanted to get back into it. Husband bought me a Janome 6600P as I was looking for a machine that would do a variety of things. My first project is going to be some valances made with a chenille tapestry/upholstery fabric to match with our chairs. Just wondering if this will be too heavy for the machine. Looked on the website for the range of fabrics that could be sewn on this machine and they do say home decor fabrics but don't want to take a chance on damaging the sewing machine. I also plan to make a bed duvet/spread/pillow set using this same type of fabric and microsuede later on. Thanks for your help!

I am making a valence with inverted pleats. I plan to line it. Do I sew the pleats, then cut out the lining so that it is flat from the back side or do I pleat the lining along with the decorator fabric? The decorator fabric is a tapestry weight.

Thanks,

Cathy in Maine
