Hi all - noticed one message regarding hemstitching. Anyone using a wing tip needle since that post? I seem to get better results with a finer thread - ie embroidery - I"m using stitch 100 on raw silk with a 120/19 wing tip. Would love to hear other experiences or tips re hemstitching. Thx, Maureen

Hi,

Just passing along that I am making my pregnant daughter an heirloom nightie. She is in hospital right now and that is where I got the idea. We had our Janome Club meeting on Saturday, Mar. 21 and I received my supplies on Wednesday for the class. I was going to sew it for myself and as I was watching our Canada Cup Curling, the thought came to me that my darling #2 daughter might like this as she is feeling very large and uncomfortable. She needs something pretty. So far I have just got the pieces blocked out and the centre front fil-tier sewed but my mind is working and I will do more it today when my 2 little grandchildren from #3 daughter go home tonight.

There were some interesting things being done on Saturday, from practicing techniques to really making something. One lady used her MC11000 for the first time and found a little glitch in the tension so left it behind for attention. Nothing serious but just an adjustment as she bought the floor model when the MC11000SE came. She was able to get a better deal by upgrading the old to the new than if she had purchased the new guy.

What are any of you sewing? I'll be here again if I run into a snag.

Cheryl

I am wanting to finish some flannel swaddle cloths for my two new twin grandsons. I have an MC11000. I would like to not actually hem them, but finish the edges in some type of decorative stitch that would keep the flannel edge from unraveling. Does anyone have any suggestions as to which stitches on the 11000 I could use? I found the Overlock and Double Overedge, but I was wishing for something that was a little more decorative... Thanks....

With the Ultimate Ruffler I made some puffing with a lightweight cotton that I am thinking of attaching to a christening gown. This is my first time with this particular technique. The puffing seems a bit bulky. I set the ruffler at 1 and stitched about 1/2 inch from the edge.
Has anyone else done this? If so, how did you make the puffing, how did you attach it and what stitches did you use?
Thanking you in advance for any answers.

Has anyone used a Schmetz Wing Needle size 120 for hemstitching? I remember reading somewhere during the last couple of months that using a Wing Needle for hemstitching is useless because you can't get a steel crochet hook through the hole. Well, trust me, we'll need to get a steel crochet hook through because my 75-year-old mom will be doing the crocheting, if I can ever get anything hemstitched! If anyone has been successful, would you please tell me which needle you used and which stitch? Thanks sew much!
-- Jeanne
^..^
>v<

Is there a comparison chart available that shows the different heirloom stitches for the MC10000/01 to the MC11000? I have a chart that shows the 9000/10000 but now need a 10000/01 to the MC11000. Thanks,
Linda in GA
