I hope you can help me. I need to do a canvas vest and if it works out I need to do several of them. I need to top stitch it and was going to use my twin needle. As I remember it is not very wide. Is there a topstitching foot that would make a wider stitch but they need to be very straight - or is there a different twin needle that is wider? I have a Memory Craft 6600 and not a very helpful dealership.

I have a 9700 have used it for embroidery only until last week, I find that the bobbin thread makes a nest in the material...also when I start out sewing, it looks like the bobbin case jumps and I get a mesage saying that the bobbin is almost out of thread...it is not, I reset the machine and go on...after I do that, I can sew for about three seconds and the bobbin thread starts to nest

what can I do?? what should I do?

thanks Mary Anne

Hi, my name is Jeanette, and I'm sewing for my third generation of girls! I'm new here. I bought my Janome MC 9500 from Sew Vac Direct in January of this year.

I just finished making two jumpers and blouses on my new Janome! I used the Collars Etc. Mary Jane pattern, the embroidery designs were purchased from A Design By Lyn, the jumpers were made out of yellow gingham and fully lined with yellow broadcloth. I wanted to put photos of them here, but couldn't. If you would like to see them, click on the link below and scroll down just under the designs, and you will see the jumpers and blouses and my name. Lyn has them featured on her site.

http://www.adesignbylyn.com/SpottedLadies.htm

Jeanette

Hello All

This is my first time on here and I really hope you can help.

I am a complete novice, and have just invested in my first machine as I plan to make summer dresses for my little girl.

Things have been going pretty well until now -- automatic buttonhole!

I can manage the first length of the button hole but it jest seems to get stuck in one spot rather than work across to the next length. From the manual, it looks like I just set it up, get it running and it does it all for me.....

Any suggestions gratefully received

Thanks
Clare

European pant fitting technique

I am petite (5' tall and about 105 lbs). When I make pants I usually eliminate the waistband, drop the waistline about 1 1/2" and make a facing. I always put the zipper in the back and because there is a big difference between my bum and waist, use 4 short darts in the front and back instead of the usual two longer ones. This gives a good fit in this area with a clean uncluttered look.

I have been reading in my Threads magazines (old issues) that the Europeans use a different cut for pants especially the crotch area. If I remember correctly, the back crotch curve is cut longer and the front is made shorter. I looked at burda patterns but didn't find any that I liked at all. I have a Vogue pattern which I have been using so am thinking of making the adjustments on that and building a pair of pants.

Has anyone on this forum tried making these adjustments? Were you satisfied with the results? Any tips? I am going to dig out the issue of Threads and follow their directions and will report back.

Jacquie

Hello, I am a new subscriber or member here and also a beginning seamster, if that be the word. I am a retired Architect and Contractor and am making leather goods and dynamic banners. I purchased a DC 3018 and a 1600P Janome machines. I want to construct some shearling ( sheep skin ) coats and have been unable to find patters specifically related to this. Also is there someone out there who has worked with this material and might be willing to give me some advise. Being new to this site I am not sure I am posting this note in the right place. If not let me know.

Thank You,
Sam Morse
SantaFeSam@comcast.net
