Anyone know where I can get?

  1. Flat Felling Feet

Please join the movement to encourage Janome to make FLAT FELLING FEET (4.5, 6.5 and 8 mm) for the 8200, 8900, 12000, 15000 machines.

I used generic FF feet on my older Janomes and have looked everywhere for adaptors or flat felling feet that would fit. I'd hate to have to move to a different manufacturer to get them. (Bernina, Pfaff, Husqvqarna)

These feet make quick, beautiful, professional seams on garments or home decorating items. Trying to do this with other types of feet (rolled hem, edge stitch, etc.) does NOT produce the same results.

See David Page Coffin's book on Shirtmaking.

Come on, Janome! There are many garment sewers who love their Janomes. Do you consider that your machines are just for quilting and embroidery? Some of us sew everything from bras to bathing suits, dresses to draperies as well as quilting and embroidery.

  3. RE: Flat felling feet

I know I'm late to this party, but can I add my name to the list please?

Recenty purchased an 8900SE (they were released in Australia much later than the USA) and would like to get a 9mm flat fell foot mainly for jeans seams.

Husqvarna Viking make a foot so might have to jump ship...hope not, because I've been a Janome girl since 1983.

Come on Janome...how about some more 9mm (width) feet?

I have a very old 2mm rolled hem foot that is perfect for fine fabrics, have had it for a long time, it produces such a delicate rolled hem. Love it!

  4. RE: Flat felling feet

I would love a FF foot and add my name to the list but Janome doesn't pay much attention to this forum. This was made obvious when they destroyed our old, helpful, easy to use one and replaced it with this one. On the old one, there was virtually no question which went unanswered and one could also print out long technical answers for future reference. I could fill a whole page on the features of this extinct forum but will not. Despite all our protests, Janome killed it and in the process many of our experts in software, garment making, embroidery etc. gave up in disgust.
If you want FF feet, you should contact Janome directly. If you want the email addresses for Janome Japan, Janome or Janome Canada, let me know and I will post them.
I should add that you may not get a satisfactory reply from them. I once made a polite request to Janome Japan and they were dismissive and referred me to Janome US (they wouldn't even forward it to Janome US themselves). Janome US was also dismissive to the point of being rude. Janome's attitude to customer relations has diminished over the last couple of decades. However, it does not hurt to make your views known. Another way to make requests, are through your dealer. Also, if you attend a sewing show, where Janome is represented or a sponsor, visit the booth and make your request know there, especially if you can corner a Janome Rep and not just the store owner that is providing the space along with Janome. Your dealer may even have events where a Janome Educator comes to do classes or present newly launched items or machines - they do take note of things consumers like and want.

  6. RE: Flat felling feet

Better late than never!! LOL Forgot to come back and update my last post. The dealer where I bought my 8900SE didn't answer my question about FF Feet, although that doesn't surprise me because they haven't shipped the cutter foot pedal either....won't buy from them again.

I found a dealer who also sold Husq/Viking and asked if they would test if the HV 9mm FF foot would fit a Janome 8900....unfortunately it's not compatible, so back to square one.

So my only option was to buy Compensating Feet for my Brother PQ1500S (straight stitcher) and a set of 16 feet (different sizes, but you need left or right) only cost Au$32 incl postage. These industrial feet should fit a Janome 1600 as well. The best part about industrial feet is they are so much cheaper. I bought them on eBay from HongKong, such a bargain.

Very narrow flat felling will be done on the 8900 but wider FF or heavyweight fabrics will be done on the Brother....best of both worlds!!

Hope this helps someone with the same problem, although I will admit it would be much better if Janome made snap-on FF feet to suit. ;-))
