  1. Editing Jef+ designs on Embird

A friend has a Janome 11000 and therefore uses Jef+ designs, I volunteered to create a border design by editing a design by cutting & splitting etc. I have loaded the design onto my computor. When I open Embird I can see the design in the file, but that is all, I try to open it so I can go on and edit but nothitng happens it won't open. My other designs all open with no problem. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong.
    Thanks Sue

    Hi Sue,

The MC11000 uses both .jef and jef+ designs. The plus are for the hoops that are bigger than those for the previous embroidery machines. Also the designs sent from the 11000 t0 the computer/card/USB are also .jef+.

Are you creating macro hoop designs because these nnd to be put into the upper hoop area (8" x 8") and the lower - these also should save as .jef+.

The JEF+ is for the larger hoops. I am not familiar with Embird but if you can change the size of the hoop or create your hoop in EMB perhaps that might work. If not than perhaps one of the free conversions programs can do it for you by converting from JEF+ to JEF.

Does your software have in "Import" option?
I don't use embird, but I've noticed that on a lot of the free ones.

The Jef+ is exclusive to the 11,000.

Embirds Jef+ format is flawed and it is a known issue. In order to open it in Embird it needs to resaved in a program like the free Tes viewer ir Wlicoms true sizer to jef.
When editing the design don't save as Jef + save as a standard Jef ignoring the hoop error message.

When you are saving a design for the 11000 or for that matter the 12000 or 15000, just use the .jef format as the machines can read that and will do what it needs when it is saved.
