"description":"American Quilter’s Society, the largest quilting membership organization in the world, is pleased to announce its popular AQS QuiltWeek event in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Grand Rapids AQS QuiltWeek will run from August 16 to 19 at the DeVos Place Convention Center, 303 Monroe Ave NW, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49503.
More than 15,000 people are expected to converge on the Grand Rapids area to enjoy four days of the best in international quilt and textile artistry. More than 450 quilts will be on display, with more than $50,000 in prizes to be awarded at the event for quilting excellence. In addition, AQS QuiltWeek will be hosting a series of workshops with some of the top talent in the quilt industry and an extensive Merchant Mart comprised of both local and national vendors.
Included in the AQS QuiltWeek celebrated exhibits are Freehand Patchwork by Danny Liu, America’s Heritage of Appliqué Quilts from the Christ Collection, New Quilts From an Old Favorite: Flying Geese from the Collection of the National Quilt Museum, Australia Wide Five, and more. Evening events feature world-renowned celebrities presenting their unique spin on fabric, quilting, and life, including dynamic sessions with Susan Cleveland and Leni Wiener.
Admission to AQS QuiltWeek includes access to all special exhibits and the Merchant Mall with hundreds of quilting items for sale. Hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, August 16 - 18, and from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 19.
