  • Embroidery App Review

    12/7/2016

    By Janome Canada's Sherri Sylvester

Janome Canada Artisan Sherri Sylvester of Thread Riding Hood has been enjoying the great Acu Apps on the Skyline S9 as she makes her daughter a new towel. Sherri explains that AcuDesign does everything. She was impressed by how the Smart Stitch engine adjusts the density of your stitches; it is straightforward and intuitive; has an undo and redo button; resizes your graphic to the hoop size automatically; has Real-Time Simulation and has cute designs. The only thing that surprised Sherri was the number of graphics that were for sale. She does mention that the designs were pretty reasonable.

Included in Sherri’s post are AcuDesign mini tutorials. She also goes over AcuSetter and AcuMonitor. Click here to read her full review.

  • Confetti Skirt to Celebrate

    12/6/2016

    By Kelly Crawford

“This year, I am so incredibly excited for New Year’s as I will be celebrating it by watching the fireworks over the Sydney Opera House! I wanted my girls to have something fun and festive to wear. I also wanted something fancy, but comfortable since we will probably be standing somewhere for several hours waiting. I love the dresses Cotton On kids produced this year for Christmas that had loose pom poms on the bottom. While I was able to snatch one up in my daughter Chloe’s size, they were sold out in my other daughter Evie’s. She was so jealous of Chloe’s I knew I had to make her something similar. I then sewed up the Confetti Skirt using the Skyline S7.” - Janome Artisan Kelly Crawford of Sewing in No Mans Land

Using gauge tulle and pom pom trim in coordinating colors, you too can make this fun and pretty skirt for New Year’s Eve, Christmas or any special day or night this festive month.

  • Sarah Smith Reviews the MC9400

    12/6/2016

    Sarah's New Favorite Janome Machine!

Artisan Sarah Smith has been affiliated with Janome America for many years and has enjoyed sewing on a variety of different machines. When we asked Sarah to test out the Horizon Memory Craft 9400, she could not have been more excited!

Over the past few months, Sarah has sewn samples for classes, a knit top and a set of quilted placemats and table runner using the MC9400. Sarah had been previously loaning the Horizon Memory Craft 15000 which she loved, but decided to switch it out and keep the MC9400 as her on-loan machine since she doesn’t do much embroidery work and is a quilting expert.

Overall, Sarah has been enjoying free-motion and walking quilting with the MC9400. The only thing she wished the machine came with is a foot similar to the convertible FMQ that came with the MC8900QCP/MC8200QCP Special Edition machines.

  • Samantha Walker Reviews the Skyline S9

    12/2/2016

    Skyline Perfection

Dedicated Janome Artisan Samantha Walker was so excited to review and play with our new Skyline S9 machine and enjoyed it! Samantha’s favorite feature is the Wi-Fi capability. She mentions in her blog post that the S9 speaks the language of the 21st century.

To test some of the Skyline S9’s basic features, Samantha created, designed and pieced quilt. For her quilt project, she used basic straight stitches and enjoyed the machine’s smooth operation. The LED lights also came in hand as they were great for lighting up the project while Samantha accurately pieced. For the pillow project, Samantha tested out the embroidery side of the machine. Samantha selected one of the included Anna Maria Horner designs and selected some gorgeous thread from the AMH Limited Edition Embroidery Kit that we sent her with the machine.

In addition, Samantha wanted to test out the Skyline S9 with a thicker project. She made a quilted Christmas Advent Calendar for her kids using the quilting features on the machine. Samantha enjoyed adding detail using little accent stitches.
