Sewn With Love: Stacy Foster's Colorful Tote
You'll never guess what she carries around in this colorful bag.
The great thing about sewing is you can make any project fit exactly what you need. So when Stacy Foster couldn't find ad suitable bag to take her pistol and other equipment to the shooting range, she made this great looking bag with a perfectly size pocket for each item.
Not only is it functional, but we bet nobody would ever guess what's she's carrying in it.
Like so many sewing projects, this one started when Stacy couldn't find what she needed at the store.
She says, "I have recently taken up shooting and wanted a nice looking bag to carry my pistol, ear protection, shooting mat, binoculars, ammo, etc. in to the range. I was unable to find anything suitable at the store so I decided to put my sewing skills to work and design and sew one myself."
For the outside, she used a soft upholstery fabric with stiff fusible interfacing. It was important to keep the fabric from shifting because she cut it diagonally.
For the inside and the handles, she used two different beautiful batiks. The top has an inset zipper closure. The outside pocket has a hidden zipper closure.
Stacy says, "Inside are five pockets custom-sized to suit my needs and a key loop at the top. I love it!!!"
We think it's right on target.
Have you sewn something recently for yourself or someone else that would make a good Sewn With Love project? We'd like to feature it here. Find out how to submit it on our Sewn With Love page.
