Sewn With Love: Kait Witte's Swingy Summer Dress
A few alterations made it a project to love.
Kait Witte, who blogs about sewing at ThreadAndBobbin.com, sent us pictures and the story behind her latest creation--this adorable summer dress.
She made the dress on her Janome Memory Craft 5200 sewing machine, using a pattern from McCall's. With a few simple changes she made it a project to love.
Kait says, "Thanks so much for hosting this feature! I would love to share a summer dress that I made."
She says she based the dress on a McCall's pattern but altered it and changed a couple details.
"Instead of matching the bias binding around the neck and armholes, I used a contrasting fabric. I also altered the pattern so it was a bit more flattering."
She also included the tip that she used the gathering foot to create the skirt before it was sewn to the bodice.
It really turned out nicely, proving that when you can sew, you can make any project truly your own.
We hope Kait's dress and story inspire you to share your own Sewn With Love project. Find out how to submit it on our Sewn With Love page.
