170-machine-4120qdcThe power, precision and convenience you need to realize your creative potential.

Normally, we can sum up the merits of mid-range sewing machine in a couple of paragraphs. But Janome has included so many features and stitches in this new machine, we're going to have to do quite a bit of summarizing. (And then send you to your Janome Dealer for the whole story.)

The 4120 Quilter's Decor Computer sewing machine (4120QDC for short) was designed for the quilter or home decor sewist who wants computerized performance, and lots of stitches and time-saving features--in a modestly-priced machine. The 4120QDC delivers all this while still being very easy to use.

Let's begin with the stitches. It has 120 of them, including 7 one-step buttonholes, which use the automatic measuring capabilities of the Buttonhole Foot R. Also included in those stitches is a complete alphabet for smaller monogramming or other lettering projects. The 4120QDC has dozens and dozens of decorative stitches to choose from, with adjustments up to 7mm wide and 5mm in length, and Twin Needle capability.

And if you don't find exactly what you like, you can adjust them, mirror image them, and combine them to make your own unique stitch patterns. Each memory position will handle up to 50 stitches. If you're writing something with the lettering, that's enough for a full length sentence.

How about the quality of those stitches? The 4120QDC has the Superior Feed System, which uses the 7-piece feed dog to move even the thickest layers of fabric through with precision. The machine can go up to 800 stitches per minute with a speed range you determine with the Speed Control Slider.  This works wonderfully in conjunction with the Start/Stop button. Set your top speed to something you're comfortable with and then let the machine cruise on those long seams while you let your pedal foot relax.

Just above the Start/Stop button are a number of other convenience buttons, which will save you quite a bit of time when it comes to repetitive tasks. There are buttons for the Locking Stitch, Thread Cutter, Reverse, and Needle Up/Down. For convenience, the default position for the needle is down at the end of your seams, so you can pivot with confidence.

Navigation is quick and intuitive. The bright LCD Screen with Fast Navigation allows you to quickly locate your stitch choice and setting options. The screen also gives helpful information, like foot choice and stitch width and length.
Use the 10 direct selection buttons to quickly program your stitch choice and setting options.

Something as seemingly minor as your sewing light can make quite a difference if you're sewing for any length of time. The 4120QDC has a Wide angle LED lamp to illuminate more of your work surface and make the built-in one-hand needle threader that much easier to use.

The machine is designed with a skeleton-type body, making it both strong and light. (Frame rigidity is vital to making a consistent stitch.) With a weight of around 14 lbs. and the included hard cover, it's easily transportable to your class or club. But sturdy enough that Janome America, Inc. covers it with a Limited 25 Year Warranty

The 4120QDC is truly a full-featured machine at a moderate price. To review all its feature, including ones we didn't have room for here, see your local Janome Dealer.
