Concealed Zipper Foot
Concealed-Zipper-Foot

Good quality ready to wear garments will often have an invisible zip fitted. These zippers are often neglected by the home dressmaker which is a pity because they can ensure success every time. Invisible zips are suitable for all fabrics from fine silk jersey through to suit weight wools and tweeds. The key is to get the needle as close to the fastener as possible, which this foot accomplishes by slightly unrolling the zipper just before the needle. Once fitted, a well sewn invisible zipper will merely look like part of the seam.

Father's Day Gift Idea
Sweatshirt-Pillow

Janome Educator Maddie Bushman, came up with this quick and easy upcycling project perfect for Father's Day.

This is a fun and easy way to preserve a great sweatshirt that doesn't get worn much anymore. Favroite Sports teams sweatshirts work great for this project. Maybe a souvenir that you purchased at a concert where it was a night to remember. Or just maybe its your husband or son's shirt that's just seen better days. Now you can create something new instead of having to junk those memories!

Whichever sweatshirt you choose this pillow is sure to be a hit. Just make sure you get permission first!

Embroidery Project

Thomas Knaur shares his "Think Board"
Think-Board

This project has a great embroidery design and uses chalkboard fabric. Think of the possiblities!

"I made the first of these Think Boards for my daughter (Bee) as a place to write down ideas now that she is starting in on, or to draw something she wanted to have in her room for a while. It is a Think Board because I wanted Bee to see it as a place to engage in writing (and drawing) as an active thinking process, not just a method of recording thoughts or ideas that are finished. So, I called it a Think Board, a place where she can go to think things out through writing or drawing or those inscrutable markings that only she seems to understand..."
